[ QUOTE ]

However, nobody saw his Q5h before it was mucked. And his cards were definitely IN the muck.

Therefore, I told my gf that she had every right to call the floor for a ruling. But I also said I wouldn't do it unless he was a jackass (to which she promptly replied that he kinda was).

[/ QUOTE ]

If I had any question as to what is second card was, I would call the floor. and there should be some question since his cards were in the muck...(hands are suppossed to be killed into the muck, not on top of the muck)

Call the floor. If the dealer has to fish through the muck, the hand is dead. Period. If the floor allows this, find another cardroom.

Do this even if he wasn't a jackass. Some things you just don't let slide.

One guy flips over Qh, leaves 2nd card face down....

The guy who flipped over Qh starts to protest and says "I had a flush." The dealer says "I didn't see it." Some arguing occurs, and eventually the dealer fishes through the muck for his cards and pulls out Qh... and 5h. Dealer then declares him the winner and pushes the pot to him.

nobody saw his Q5h before it was mucked. And his cards were definitely IN the muck....

This whole scenario is ridiculous. Did he say my other card was the 5h, or did he just fish through the muck with the dealer until he found a heart?

I would have the floor over in a second. He's either a cheat, a retard, or both, but if it's me, he is NOT getting this pot.

ALWAYS call the floor. Their job is to give rulings.

There is no way the guy had a flush. Showing one card like that is an angle shot that I've seen other low limit people try to pull when they have bottom pair, but want to have something more.

It is very important that you fully explain to your girl friend why the floor needs to be called in that situation. A lot of people are afraid of looking like the bad guy, but this kind of behavior should not be allowed to stand.

Fishing cards out of the muck? No friggin' way I let that go. Like another poster said, look at the video tape and you'll see that all he had wa a Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

I could tell you already that he's a jackass just from the slowrolling. Slowrollers deserve to be kicked in the nuts and thrown out of the casino. If he did in fact have the 5h with his Qh, he deserved to have lost the pot. It's an absolute crime that he was awarded the pot. I can't believe the dealer dug cards out of the muck and somehow decided he had the 5h.

I think that part of the problem here lies with the dealer or the Casino itself.

Many places have a rule that in order to claim a contested pot you have to show both cards. I can think of a number of situations where the dealer has told a player about this rule. It certainly avoids the kind of mess your gf was in.

I wouldnt' be surprised if the jackass in question was a regular and does this on a regular basis. Further, I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer knew this and was just sick of it and instead of warning him again, he just took his cards. I have no problem with this, so long as his hand remains dead.
