Re: coming to a NL game near you...
Had this happen twice in as many weeks, once cash game and once MTT. Got to love... I had not heard about the WSOP hand, but it is not something new, I have seen it before and used it to rank some nice ones.
BTW, if this happens in a MTT, make sure that you call the floor and get a "timeout" imposed on the player. I did and stole his SB and BB while he was dealt out. LOL |

im no \"microbob\" ... but i try to help when i can
if i dont have something new to post i dont post. 99% of the questions asked on here have been answered before by ray or flynn or raymer. people who post first, read the archives later are just being lazy and shouldnt be entertained.

I hear what you are saying. But your stories are fantastic, and your strategy posts are equally good. A lot of us could benefit from the stuff you have to say...

Re: coming to a NL game near you...
Great post, though you really think gerasimov thought his 10 6 or whatever had "some high card value," with 3 overcards, and the previous action? For him to win the hand his opponent's hand could not contain an ace, king, queen, jack, ten with a better kicker, a pocket pair or one of the other two cards that were on the board. I don't remember if a flush was possible, though gerasimov missed one. His opponent raised preflop iirc.
Also, I don't see much difference between turning your hand face up on the river and pretending it was an accident and turning your hand face up on purpose to get a read on your opponent (though this doesn't happen much out of position). The latter is just part of the game in many places, and the former doesn't seem to confer any extra advantage (beyond the latter). Not to mention the fact that exposing your hand out of position allows your opponent to play perfectly. I wouldn't mind if everyone tried to shoot this angle every hand against me. Preferablly they'd turn their cards up preflop, rather than wait until the river, but I'd settle for the river. |

Re: im no \"microbob\" ... but i try to help when i can
the archives are either tempermental or i am a donk. admittedly, it could be the latter, but i think many would agree with me when i say the search function is less than user friendly. Personally, i read the archives more than i read anything. I have all but given up on searching by topic or keyword. All i do is click on poster (limon, El D, Flynn, etc.) and show all users posts and start reading. But now, it seems to have just quit showing posts that are very old or something? For example, i have tried raymer in the past, and only got like 50 posts. As for Limon, his archive ends on 12 29 04. I know he posted way before that because i have read all of them and have several saved; but now i cant go back and find them anymore. At any rate, maybe i am missing something, if anyone knows i would appreciate it; its probably something simple, but i often find my self in owen wilson ben stiller ala "zoolander" mode around computer software..lol.

Re: coming to a NL game near you...
Hey limon,
[ QUOTE ] recently karil jerasimov pulled a classic angle in a wsop event. it was covered in card player as an amazing call NOT an angle BUT IT WAS AN ANGLE ... the coverage will cause this angle to have a renaissance of sorts among punk kid newbies across the country. the angle works like this...you're out of position with a draw and one opponent you may be betting all the way or check calling...you miss on the river but your hand has some high card value, the pot is big enough you want to win it but you dont want to make a big bet or call a big bet sooooo, you just check and then before your opponent acts you pretend he checked behind you and you flip your hand and say something like "i missed, you got it". then you watch your opponent intently, if you really do have him high carded it will become very apparent and he will bet and usually bet BIG and then you can make an "amazing" call. some punk already tried to pull this on me ... here is the proper counter maneuver. once the punks hand is exposed and you know you have him beat DONT JUST MOVE ALL IN, these kids may not have the balls to finish the angle and they'll fold and youll miss a golden opportunity to break them financially and psychologically. the first thing to do is declare the exposed hand dead. everyone will tell you it isnt (they are correct) be defiant, call the floor. once the floor man tells you the hand is live say, "fine, im all in" the hook is set so deep now your sh*thead opponent will beat you into the pot. once the hands are exposed all hell will break loose...the rest of the degenerates in the casino will think a jackpot hand has been dealt at your table. [/ QUOTE ] Could you explain how one might apply this to an online game? Thanks! ML4L |

Re: coming to a NL game near you...
cant see how this or many other common angles would work on-line.
