I got one of those. Goes right on the counter and plugs into your sink. Inexpensive, and worth every penny. No remodel necessary.

It's on the list, right below new driveway, some work on the backyard drainage, and hardwood flooring. Homeownership is fun.

We have a dishwahser and still use mostly paper plates. The paper companies are in trouble. Think about all the good you'd be doing for the economy. Think about all the poor ignorant, uneducated, unskilled, union paper workers you'd be employing. Besides paper is mostly from cheap pine trees grown in the U.S., not South American forests. And they've got genetically engineered trees that grow so fast now that they grow new ones in just a few years and cut them down again.

Get the portable. It takes about 20 seconds to hook up, it rolls easily across the floor, and will make your life much easier. I live in an apartment, with a tiny fridge, and we just throw the dishwasher in a corner. Added bonus - more counter space.

Do it. You won't regret it. Get a full size too, not the counter top ones. Those things are useless when you have a big dinner.

A minor remodel to make that short counter taller seems fairly painless. Probably 2-3 days of work, if that. You could also use that remodel to extend the lip for the counter to make it easier to eat from. It looks like the legspace for a non-baby would be pretty small.

how can a driveway take precedence over this? unless my driveway was a gigantic crater with stalagmites i would do the kitchen first.
