It's "next card". That is, on the flop you should typically use the odds to make your flush by the turn, not the river.

I'm surprised you say that you've been folding too many drawing hands though, assuming you mean flush draws. With 4:1 odds, it's pretty rare in a low limit game that you won't have those kind of odds to see the turn (especially when you factor in implied odds).

It's a fine example, very good opportunity for education, deception5 is way wrong on what he says is the issue at hand. The issue is always based on math and you have attempted to address that. If I have time I'll work through some of the math you can do in a simple heads up spot like this (you have to make some assumptions of course), but maybe someone else will handle it [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

for pot equity for bet/raise decisions in multiway pots on the flop ..

Flush draw is 1.9:1 on the flop if you go to the river, and 4.1:1 on the turn. You have the odds to bet out and call a raise...things get hinky on the turn if your heart doesn't come out.

So, let's see.

Turn is a blank. There are 2BB in the pot. Do you call a bet here? Heads up is iffy with no reads. With another person, you likely get your pot odds to call a bet and see the river.

If the turn is a blank, and I have to call a bet, it's 3.5BB in the pot, so you only need to make up .6BB to make a call profitable. Depending on the read, this may be fine.

I would call the flop bet and raise/fold based on that card.
I believe you have 8 outs to the flush giving you 2:1 hand odds (if he has 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] then the 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] would give him the nuts).
You are getting 3.5 to 1 on your call, putting in 1 SB to win 3.5 SB. This is a profitable situation. 3.5>2

Assuming you don't hit it on the turn, and you are again raised, you will be getting 5:1 hand odds to hit. The pot odds will now be 3.25 to 1 so this is not a profitable situation. 5<3.25
