I've been in almost the exact same situation twice this week and both times i played it the same. Unfortunatly both times some yahoo with rags hit runner runner to make better 2-pair/trips. So i just have to remind myself that those suckout encourage piss-poor play from them in the future.

[ QUOTE ]
How would it be to check the flop, hoping for a late position bet you could check-raise?

[/ QUOTE ]

we have a winner

your flop bet doesn't protect your hand (just gives people odds to chase their gutshot on the river) - you check here, hoping that a late position player bets.

if it gets checked through, you bet a safe turn card (as your equity either goes way up or way down after seeing the turn card)

i think a hand nearly identical to this is in sshe

Grunching
I don't like to c/r here unless I know where the bet is coming from. If you ck and an ep player bets, you really don't wanna raise with this hand. It could get checked through (not likely, but possible). I like the way the hero played this hand, including the river bet.

But if they bet, They may have a straight and were behind and wasted the bet.

Dont we gain more information from betting, If raised we can be fairly sure 2pair/straight?

[/ QUOTE ]

I wasn't thinking about getting information, but rather trying to protect. If we get 3-bet, we'll also get some information

This all seems pretty straight foward.

Was there a street you had a question on?

More on a confirmation really, Was fairly confidant whilst playing this hand.

Of course uncomfortable as i held a "Fragile" hand, Wanted opinion on protecting it etc.

Thanks guys - Learning alot

This is a pretty standard check/raise on the flop in my opinion.

IMO Without a face card or Ace on the flop (or any PF raiser) - I don't think you can rely on getting a CR in on this flop.
