Default Re: Right laydown?

It was the right laydown at the wrong time. Put it down on the flop for the first 2 bets at .25/.5, barring reads that the BB is either an insane LAG, or too good for the limit and capable of isolating a weak or LAGgy SB. Typical table, they're too straightforward, but not insane enough to consider yourself having a chance of being ahead that compensates your insufficient odds to suck out a set.

11 SB to cold-call 2 (5.5-1) is NOT a "big pot" for the chances you are ahead or will draw to your set given the action.

Curse your luck, and drop the fishhooks into the muck. Then again, I am a weak-tight ex-lurker.

calling down isn't necessary here, folding the flop is the correct choice.

2 cold on the flop with an overcard to your jacks, I'd think about folding, but maybe call. But with it capped back around, I'd definitely chuck it.

Calling down really isn't an option here because you've got 2 maniacs capping on every street, so you're going to lose the maximum anyway.

Personally I would have folded the flop for the first two bets. If I didn't do that, I would clearly do it when its capped back to me. You are trapped in the middle of two guys going nuts. What are you possibly beating? You don't have odds to chase the set.

Calling 2 bets on the flop is OK, I think...

1) How many outs do you think Hero has?
2) What are Hero's current odds?
3) How much do you think Hero makes in implied odds?

Fold the flop

1 3 outs (2 J's and a BD draw that's not the nuts)
2 5.5:1 on the first CC, 10:1 on the second
3 not enough

That flop is a brick with not much imagination. I doubt there's much being bet in front of you there that's a draw. Fold then.

Damn, boy, what does it take to convince you that someone has a pair of jacks beat? How many outs do you think you have on the flop and turn, and what are the pot odds you are getting every time you call?

I fold the turn to 2 bets. Calling 2 bets on the flop is OK, I think, because I wouldn't expect it to get capped behind me and I'd like a showdown. With the cap on the flop, I think you're implied odds are good enough to see the turn to catch your miracle card. On the turn, you might want to call, but I'd be afraid it being capped behind me, so I'd get away from this to 2 bets.

You're getting 14:2 on the first flop cold call. That's 7:1 on a 22:1 draw, so you'd have to make 7.5BB on the turn and river, but probably should win at least 8-9BB since you won't always win with a set. Unless they both have monsters, you won't be winning this much.
