Unfortunately for you, the results sucked, but in this particular situation I would have done exactly what you
did......

You can't let results affect proper play....

I know it sounds silly to bet your stack to only win 150, but I consider that $1800 to be on the borderline of being short stacked compared to the blinds. When you open for $400 you really have to bet your whole stack on the flop. Futhermore, I only recommend this move when your stack is approximately 10 times the amount of blinds and antes (in this case $1500). You really cannot afford to lay down your hand on the flop and lose that $400 you bet.

My 78% percentage figure comes from tight players that only call with pairs, and will fold to a bet if they don't flop a set.

Lastly, like I said I consider you to be approximately short stacked and would not mind taking the chance to double up or just pick up the blinds. As you can see you really don't have any betting power with $1800 and you can't afford to lose chips. You do not have enough chips to play regular poker at this point. Because any bet you make will cripple you if you fold, you are basically committed to the pot if you want a chance to win.

Good Luck

Mark
