Re: Which is Softer, B&M or Internet
$7 a pot in rake?
What the crap. In a 12BB pot at 3/6 that is like 10% rake. SWUSC |

1. B & M have higher rake and you may want to tip the dealer. [/ QUOTE ] I admit that the dealer tip adds an extra dollar, but the actual rake doesn't need to be higher. I pay $3 rake at the casino just like online. And yes, the games are much much much softer live. |

Re: Which is Softer, B&M or Internet
I hope B& M is not too hard but i am in europe and play 99,99% Online..I really wait for my 2 week vegas trip, and i am sure that real B&M is more fun and a nice experience for me.

Re: Which is Softer, B&M or Internet
How ironic - I live in Vegas and I don't set foot in a poker room anymore and my best friend is a poker dealer.
For making money, it's the internet or specifically, multi-tabling. I don't give a rats arse how soft the B&M games are, the money is with the internet. I've been playing for almost 2 1/2 years. After learning to be tight-aggressive what's left is running good and running bad. We've all had 3 week downswings or standing in place, which in real life would translate to 21 weeks or 5 months of frustration. Thanks but no thanks. And that's at 35-40 hours a week, hardly possible in a B&M. PokerTracker really improved my game and gave me fresh insight. I know my opponents better on the Internet. Why am I even in Vegas? |

Re: Which is Softer, B&M or Internet
[ QUOTE ]
other night I walked into Harrah's NO. Find the biggest limit hold em, which is 20-40 (only some nights). First hand I see, UTG raises, 5 or 6 cold callers. That is softer than Party 3-6. and that's typical of live games in Calif too, roughly. but they drop $5-rake + $1-jackpot + $1(min)-tip / hand. even at 3-6. it's still more beatable per hand. but for all the reasons mentioned, online is more profitable and more tolerable. unless you're one of those who have a deep need for "company". [/ QUOTE ] If that's true then I think BM would WAY be more profitable. Ok you pay $4 more per raked hand and play 50% less hands than online (maybe more if you can multitable higher limits) But every pot you win will be huge! If you win only 1 hand an hour you'd net at least 3 bb/hr. And with the amount of fish you won't have to worry about tables breaking up like they do frequently online. I've never played live so this is just what I believe, maybe I'm completely wrong. |

Re: Which is Softer, B&M or Internet
This is one reason I don't play Harrah's NO -- that rake is sick.

Watching the Live At The Bike webcast last night would have answered your question.

Re: Which is Softer, B&M or Internet
I think live is definitely softer. I was at Hawaian Gardens a few weeks back. The players were thrilled when there was a "family pot" (no folds) and the fish got a thrill out of not respecting raises. They would call any raise with crap and if the hit the flop would bet into the raiser while laughing and saying "no respect".
I unusually play online but am starting to play more live on the weekends. I've heard the online = more hands=more money, etc. line of thinking. I tend to agree somewhat but at the same time B&M pots can be 3-4X the size of online pots, so you can actually play and win half or 1/3 fewer pots and still be equal or ahead of online. |

Re: Which is Softer, B&M or Internet
Internet has people who suck, people who are average, pros, and top pros.
B&M has top pros, pros, people who are average, people who suck, and also people who are too stupid to operate a PC. So my vote is for B&M being softer. "Your excuses are your own" -- Richard Roma |
