Now, I do know that SSHE has A8 and A9 as a limp even in an agressive game, but stops there (i.e. A7s and down)

AXs? What on earth does that mean? I don't think I've ever been dealt a card with an X on it. Is it wild? If so, folding seems bad. Or do you often try to only look at the suit of your second card but not its rank to make the hand more fun? I just don't understand that poll. AXs is not a hand. It's a very wide range of hands. I think limping A2s UTG in a ten-handed game is pretty awful, but if I pick "fold AXs from EP" that means I am saying that I would also fold AKs UTG+2, which of course I wouldn't.

I think it is a total "depends" question. On certain tables I do (little raising loose), other I fold (tight-raising).

I like to open raise sometimes again depending on the conditions. I also like these hands for isolation raises against loose players.

EDIt: This topic is probably more suited to hand posting, as there are so many variables. But I agree with Q-tip in saying always and never a bad idea.

I've played 140K hands of 2/4. Over 100K was playing AXs UTG more than 90% of the time. It was a .25BB leak for me. Even at 2/4 I think you have to be very selective.

These hands are profitable at decent tables (and I looked at PT to confirm, too!). Edit: My data is from 2/4 (and 1/2).

Post your VP$IP from UTG, UTG+1 with A7s-. Also post your number of hands and BB/hand. Thanks,

Krishan

Spydog, I know you are a solid player. And I think you think I'm decent. I really believe that a VP$IP over 30% at 2/4 is a leak. Can you please post these stats for me?

Post your VP$IP from UTG, UTG+1 with A7s-, number of hands and BB/hand. Thanks,

Krishan

I voted no, but it's not always true. if I'm at a really loose/passive table, I'm definitely limping with Axs. However, I'm also folding if I don't hit a flush draw, trips, or two pair. But, most tables I play seem to have an average of no more than 3 seeing the flop, so that's really not conducive to Axs from early position.

I used to play it most of the time when I played 2/4, as many of those tables have 5-6 seeing the flop regularly.

Bob says "Limping is playing the cards, Raising is playing the game".

This is only tangentially related. (In fact, even that might be a stretch.) But, I was reminded of another post which struck me like this one does. You know how you can hear something over and over again, but it just doesn't click? And then it does.

James said in a recent post

My mentality going into pretty much any flop, aside from when I have AA or KK, is "How am I going to win this hand without a showdown?" Some flops certainly change that, but this didn't seem to be one of them.
