Default Re: Heisenberg\'s Uncertainty Principle as applied to board cards

Ummm,

B&M:
Stack two decks in identical order.
1. Deal. Player folds. Deal board.
2. Deal. Player sees flop. Deal board.

Online:
Play two games with same seed.
1. & 2 as above.

Using false quantum theory like your post:
Deal out hand.
Put player in a box.
Deal board.
Have player make a fold/call decision.
See if board changes.

No need for the medal, I'd just like the million dollar check.

I like to think that your post was an attempt at humor and enjoyed it as such.

No problem. Design an experiment to prove me wrong. A Nobel prize awaits the completion of this 'easy' task.

A third grader could prove you wrong, I have no more time for your silliness.

It couldn't be any simpler. You only need to prove that the board cards are the same in the universe where I fold AND the universe where I call the flop.

Can't be done.

There is only one deck. One deck in the universe where you fold. One deck in the universe where you call. All you need do is prove these decks equal.

Impossible.

Except that they are the same decks. There is no alternate universe. Once the deck is shuffled it does not change. End of story, end of theory.

I will assume you are just dragging this on for the fun of it, and therefore treat it as such.

I know nothing about online in this instance, and I will not presume to. I am only talking about B&M here.

Quantum physics is not necessarily applicable to macroscipic objects. When was the last time you observed the de broglie wavelength of a football?

By your logic cards couldn't be marked. Are you saying when a cheat marks my cards and observes their value and collapses the wave function, my cards could change value? Now that'd be cool. Imagine if he re-raised me all in while I couldn't even beat the board on the river. As he'd be getting ready to drag the pot, I'd flip over my hole cards showing the nuts. He'd say:"WTF?" And I'd say:"Heisenberg baby! Heisenberg!"

And please do not use the word proof when you talk about physics.

Default Re: Question about card randomness

Poker Stars uses mouse movements to affect the next shuffle--look it up-it's right on their site info.

Stars and Paradise set the deck before dealing with no changes during the hand. Ultimate Bet uses a continuous shuffle.

Therefore on Stars and Paradise you can play "wouda, couda" but at UB you are cast into oblivion.

It's one of my favorite subjects.

I see it as a metaphysical litmus test. Do you believe in a determinate universe where your action has no effect?

Dull. Dull. Deadly dull.

My universe offers a bit more action.

By the by, there is no such thing as "chance"-Heisenberg is only displaying the extent of a human lack of understanding.
