I'm angry that I didn't wait till the turn to raise on a safe card. But I don't know if it mattered. I had terrible position for my good hand. [/ QUOTE ] This hand was played fine. Brad |

I don't think so.
I think I am doing major things wrong and this is why I am having a bad day at the tables. |

This is the only way to play this hand correctly. Variance is variance.

Not check-raising the flop is MAYBE a mistake, calling the turn when it's two back to you with 4 to a straight on the board is a HUGE mistake that many new players on tilt would have made.

Winning at poker is not about giving people incorrect odds to draw. If you bet this flop and someone calls you with a gutshot, you make money on that flop bet. The person with the gutshot is losing money on the flop bet but is making money overall because the size of the pot. Not betting the flop is costing yourself money dude!

Thanks.
I hope it really is variance and not a skill deficiency. |

If I could get button to bet it and then raised after SB called/folded, I'd be giving the rest of the field 7:1 odds, not enough to draw to a gutshot. [/ QUOTE ] Short of running to his house and hitting his Bet button for him, there is no way to guarantee this. |

Hey Hack,
For what it's worth, I play this the same way. Just one of those days, keep at it. |

I think I had the exact same hand today. People seem to draw straights on me left and right on my TPTK.
Was 3-tabling on Paradise (first time for 3-tabling, but I'm getting comfortable enough with 2 tabling that I'm starting to watch TV, too) and I opened up 3 tables with $10 each (.25/.50). 2 tables almost immediately got down to $3 and $5. Not because I was playing bad... or playing bad hands. I was just getting drawn out. One table went south so I had to go find another, and I had to get more chips on another to prevent an all-in situation, but an hour later I was almost breaking even on the buy-in table, and $5 up on the other two tables. Just patience... but you know that.. KO |
