Default 2+2 Super-Magoo Games

These games originated from 2+2ers calling each other "Magoo," which originated back in AC in the late nineties...

"Magoo" is a somewhat generic term that originated in Atlantic City. Years ago, Jesus (Zeus) Marrero said "That man plays like that cartoon character, the nearsighted Mr. Magoo. He can't even read his own cards, and he certainly doesn't know what to do with them."

Magoo is a term for a player who is so clueless that even reading the board seems beyond their capacity. Since its beginnings, the term has evolved into a somewhat ambiguous, all-purpose word. It can be a noun, a verb, an adjective, and probably a pronoun or adverb too, if you really get creative. Still, it's primarily a noun, referring to a bad player who makes a bad play.

So at any rate, a 2+2 Super-Magoo game is a small stakes, limit hold'em game held in a casino where 2+2ers get together and drink lots of liquor and beer (it's a must-drink game ) and play stupid cards like capping it with 3d2d and check-raise with gutshots to the butt-end and that kind of thing. We have had two of them since I got here, both at excalibur. One was 2-6 spread limit and the other was 1-3 spread limit. It's better to play the 1-3 because then we can all play even stupid-er and have even more fun. Excal will let us change the rules up for a private game too, thus allowing straddles in the 1-3 game (normally not allowed in the beginner game). They are great fun, full of terrible bad beats, weeping, gnashing of teeth, etc etc.

I got a hankerin' to have another one of these games soon, perhaps a fresh thread is in order! Since my schedule is screwy right now, I will wait till next week to try and get the ball rolling, but it shall happen and that right soon!

Another thing that should happen fairly soon is a mixed games private tournament LIVE in LV. I can get the arrangements made when the time comes!

All 2+2ers should try and get in one of these games in their lifetime. They should also promise themselves to play BAD and NOT be a friggin' party-pooping rock, and to just whip it out and have a blast!

That sounds might interesting, what games would you prefer? Are you thinking a HORSE game, or something simpler such as Omaha/Hold'em? Next time I'm in Vegas (early next month) I'll give you a shout Al, even if we don't get an official Magoo game going, we can always act like dumbasses ad do it ourselves.... lets strike fear into the hearts of the tourists!

hell, every game in the universe! triple draw 2-7 lowball, stud-8, omaha high only, everything and anything that I can dream up that can be played in a casino, even if I haven't played it before! The object would be to have a tournament where everyone is pretty unfamiliar with MOST of the games, thus making it more of a "poker" game and less of a "hold'em" game.

Glenn and I will be there if I'm able.

I'm supposed to go to the LAPC at Commerce on Jan 26-Feb 7 (longer if I win a sat to the main event).

Me and another 2+2er will be in Vegas for the week of the 15th - 23rd. This Super-Magoo game sounds pretty fun, keep me posted.

I will probably post about our plans as well to see if other 2+2ers want to meet up.

Default LAPC ??

Must be the "loose aggressive player's club" annual get-together.

Probably holding it in southern california this year.

Again.
