Re: Aces in the big blind
Flat calling the flop is OK if you're planning to bomb the turn. But raising the flop is more standard.
Checking the river behind is indefensible. |

OK how about this one
Having taken to heart commentary on the previous hand, Hero has resolved to show more aggression with hands that are very likely to be good but could be beat:
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $6 BB (8 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Hero ($600) Button ($272) SB ($1318.95) BB ($535.85) UTG ($101.25) UTG+1 ($1721.45) MP1 ($1241.25) MP2 ($603.20) Preflop: Hero is CO with K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 4 folds, Hero raises to $15, 1 fold, SB calls $12, 1 fold. Flop: ($36) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $17, SB calls $17. Turn: ($70) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $60, SB calls $60. River: ($190) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $180 . . . Villain apparently has some room for improvement in his NLHE game as he called and showed 55. But my question is, suppose he had put in a big honkin' raise? Then what? |

Re: OK how about this one
Yeah you played it perfect man. I knew he had a mid pair when i read it, and you had to value bet that river. He was hoping you had big cards on the flop, fired again on the turn and then slowed down. A nice big value bet that looks like it wants him to fold on the river is correct. The whole way you played it was correct.
I think the big honking raise call would have to be read dependent. And a cussing fold with no reads. |

Re: Aces in the big blind
As it is, bet river.
I like calling flop and raising turn best. |

But my question is, suppose he had put in a big honkin' raise? Then what? [/ QUOTE ] I'm also afraid of getting raised. This is a huge leak. I miss a lot of value and sometimes I get outdrawn because of it. Every time I feel I play too passive I reread Super System: "Never worry about getting raised. You have to go ahead and play and if it happens, it happens... and then you worry about it. Don't cross that bridge until you come to it." Im not a big Doyle Brunson fan but Super System has some good points. |

Re: Aces in the big blind
I probably make it $200 on the turn.
As played I bet 1/2 pot to 2/3 pot on the river. |

Re: Aces in the big blind
I like the flop and turn, but think the river check is awful.
