Re: Did Gay Marriage Sink Kerry?
The combination of Christian Conservatives' enthusiasm for banning gay marriage and the squeamishness of African-Americans with homosexuality is what tilted things in the direction of Bush.

Re: Did Gay Marriage Sink Kerry?
Yes. But it was a little bit forced because the gay rights crowd put it in play. I think the US was warming to gay rights. Certainly, the advancements in attitude over the last 10 years or so have been huge. Then, the gay rights supporters went for broke when they shouldnt have and they insulted so many people. Now, they are unfortunately suffering a HUGE backlash.

If he had spent one more day in Ohio, he might well have won. You're talking like the guy got avalanched because people hated him. He almost won. With some better advisers, he would have.

Re: Did Gay Marriage Sink Kerry?
If this is supposed to mean that many Christians (and lets not twist it, you're taking a shot at Christians and the Bible) believing homosexual marriage is wrong is any less valid than you believing it is acceptable, then you have a thoroughly slanted view of the world...
The nice thing about this country is that people are free to believe whatever they want to believe, whyever they want to believe it. In the states in which marriage was defined as between a man and a woman, all it shows is that a majority of that state's population chooses to believe a certain thing. For you to insult their beliefs because they do not coincide with your own is arrogant and ignorant. The entire situation with gay marriage was screwed up when people were warming to it by a few judges deciding to let loose out in California. At that point, it seemed to just be for the "shock value" of it all, even though that wasn't the point. The homosexual community's handling of the situation sunk gay marriage in the states that voted against it, and Kerry's campaign sunk Kerry. EDIT: What Utah said. Its getting late and I haven't slept much.... -Edge |
