Re: Is this bad play?
In a low buyin tourney without a read that this fish pushs his premium hands you can't give him credit for having much when he massively overbets preflop. So you have to call. You'll be shocked how often this guy turns over a hand that boggles the mind.

Re: Is this bad play?
SobeDude, lets take the play away from a standard online game. Would there ever be a point (in terms of stack depth) where you would fold this hand preflop?

[/ QUOTE ] Stack depth is clearly a key point of this hand. And just to clarify, the example that you gave was very different from this hand. In that example, you're dealing with potential re-steals versus a best case scenario in this hand of being up against two over cards. |

Re: Is this bad play?
Why do you completely rule out a resteal here? I admit that it is unlikely, but impossible?

I think the liklihood of a steal in this situation is not high. The hero raised from MP which is not a typical stealing position, particularly in low buy-in events. And the villain risks a good portion of a very nice stack. I would say 9 out of 10 times the villain has AK playing a hand this way under these circumstances. |

Re: Is this bad play?
Point taken. The resteal is strangely absent from low buy-in events. I would argue that middle pairs are often played the same way in low buy-in events. Perhaps, you have been up in stakes too long, you have lost touch with the common donk. J/K, btw, but congrats on the pull last night.
I think the most likely range is 77-JJ, AK-AJ. Which makes this situation a call. In a higher buy in, deeper stack event, I do think there reaches a point in your stack size where this isnt a call, I just dont know where it is. |
