[/ QUOTE ] But the poor person would get the real jail time. Up until recently, the rich guy stealing billions would get a slap on the wrist. That being said, in this regard Canada isn't much different than the states. Our rich guys don't tend to go to jail for long, either.

Because people tend to make fun of people in less powerful neighbouring countries/regions etc. Witness England/Ireland, France/Belgium, Dublin/Kerry and so on.
