Default Flop the low end of a straight on the button with 54s

PokerStars 0.05/0.10 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO folds, Hero calls, SB folds, BB checks.

Flop: (5.80 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, MP2 checks, MP3 bets, Hero raises, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 calls.

Turn: (5.90 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
MP2 checks, MP3 bets, Hero raises, MP2 calls, MP3 calls.

Up through the turn, was this the correct way to play such a hand? (Had to fold the river due to another 8 falling).

I play the same way.

If someone had T9 you would hav been raised on the flop, if not, certainly on the turn and if that 7 gave them trips I think you'd be 3-bet on the turn as well. You have to assume the best hand here.

P.S. Were you playing last night? I think I saw you, if your handle is similiar to the one you use on this site. My stats have you as a very tight player but of course this is very small sample.

Looks textbook to me, jam when you flop the 3rd nuts.

Yep, "nihilvt". I've been playing extremely tight lately, as I can't seem to plug all the leaks I have in my play yet... I'm a consistent loser but I hope that may make a change for the better sometime soon.
