Re: Josh\'s apology
[ QUOTE ]
First off i want to apoligize for the way i acted after winning that hand... let me explain myself... Imagine believing you are going to win 5 million dollars the whole time you are playing and seeing it all flash in front of you at once... i was definitely caught up in the moment and acted childishly. I am definitely an emotional player, but not to that extent... As i watched tonights show, i couldnt believe the way i acted and wanted to publicly apoligize to harry, it disgusted me to watch my reaction... I should have reacted in a much more professional manner... Now to explain the hand.. i raised in first position, then after the flop i had 900k remaining, i bet 400k, basically telling my opponents that i am playing this hand to the river... AJ wasnt a hand i thought an opponent would shove with... i was wrong, there was a moment of shock, dissapointment, and humility all at the same time... hopefully that explains the way i acted... At this point in the tournament every hand is the most important hand of your life... i lost my cool and i want to send a sincere apology to Harry, and when i see him in person i will apoligize again.. thats not like me, i just hope that people that know me explain that i am a compationate person who cares about others feelings... Dont get me wrong i looked at the WSOP this year as a war for 5 million dollars, thats why you will see me needle people here and there, but that was uncalled for and was kicking someone when they were down... i hope you understand [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Josh\'s apology
my opinion of him improved after reading this, although I still think its pretty bad to make fun of someone after they have just lost a big hand. He talks about how every hand is so big for him and how its so important......well imagine how the guy who just lost the hand felt! With that said, this is a classy apology.

Re: Josh\'s apology
i agree. although it still was very lame. you go all in on a draw(although a very good one) and criticize the guy who read you as being weak perfectly. ill give him the benefit of the doubt. maybe he will learn from it. he is obviously very skilled but he came off as a total ass to me. needling someone who has just lost the most important pot of his life after you suck out on the river is evil.

I had liked Josh during the early part of the coverage, but he came off as an arrogant prick last night for parts of it. The feature vignette where he said he outplays his opponents "95% of the time" struck me as rather arrogant for someone who I haven't seen at a WPT final table. I know he's a great player, but he sounded a little like Hellmuth there, implying that he'd be winning every event he enters if luck didn't play a factor. Regarding the specific hand against Harry (I love that everyone is using his first name, since most are probably like me and can't remember - or spell - his last name), he acted on the broadcast like playing AJ in that situation was just a crime against humanity, and that hitting his flush on the river was some sort of karma-ish redemption for being up against such a crappy hand. I just don't understand his reactions, I mean, I know AJo isn't necessarily a hand that you want to be calling a raise and a cold-caller with in no limit, but after that flop, did Josh really think that it hadn't hit one of his opponents? I'm glad he apologized, and did so in a public nature. Needling an opponent after a hand is just low class IMO. |

Re: Josh\'s apology
Josh was splashing around a lot of pots in this tourney. Harry made a stand with top pair. If you can't make a stand against an uber-aggresso like Arieh with top pair, even on a scary board like that, then you're just going to let him take every damn pot against you. Josh shouldn't have really been that surprised by how he was played back at in that situation.

my opinion of him improved after reading this [/ QUOTE ] Not mine? He shoulda realized what an ass he was back in May and not after seeing himself on TV. Spin control in my opinion and not a very good job of it at that. Once a dick, always a dick until proven otherwise and this lame apology doesn't prove a thing to me. |

Re: Josh\'s apology
I think under stress his true nature came out. He acted immature and quite vindictive. I for one and glad that another player criticized him as well as the announcers. People not taking stands against jerks just allow them to think it is acceptable. It finally took this jerk to see himself to understand the lack of his character. Perhaps he will turn it around and show some respect and class but one apology is just the first step. He obviously needs alot more in that direction.
