Really, now!

Actually this goes to show that you can't push a pocket out of the pot.

Since we have unknown high stakes oppoenents, we have no right to think he had pocket 3s. The first sentence was merely playing "Monday Morning Quarterback", and adressing (cutting off) the idea of making him fold a small pair given that you are presumably unknown to the opponent also.

a good and bad player alike are more likely to have a pocket pair than a flush draw in clubs. There are 11 choose 2 both clubs hands (55), and 5*3 + 8*6 pocket (63) pocket pairs. Now, with both good, bad and in-between players, they will be much quicker to drop suited hands than pairs before the flop, so this roughly 6-5 ratio is much too low. Certain flush draws have you beat (AK, or a pair and a 4 flush) and you'll never get these hands to fold without risking a lot of bets in a spot where you are likely beat, and may be beat badly or outdrawn on the end.

So, even though you may occaisionally be folding the best hand on the turn, it's hard to make a case for continuing. There's one more feature that makes the turn fold the likely best play: that the turn is a jack. Now, even more of the flush draws you had beat beat you, and this would be a textbook case of my "card below" theory, which I will share separately. But, in a nustshell, in a raised pot, what's the worst flop of an AQ? almost always a J high flop.

I think what's been neglected so far is that hero will sometimes spike an ace or a queen to win. Other times he will already have 33 beat (if he's playing properly). The bottom line is that 33 shouldn't be able to profitably call this turn raise even though it happened worked out this time.

hi kush...

interesting how you moved up in limits so fast...hopefully it wasn't a blip resulting from your capping style.

i'd fold preflop. fold the flop. fold the turn. and if given the opportunity, fold the river.
