Automatic raise, or just call?

I was completely dumbfounded by this river raise....I thought for a bit I was missing a draw that just came in, but no, there's no draw. I'm pretty sure 90% of the time this means that they just hit their kicker. The guy trapped in the middle has an overpair I'm almost positive, and will call any action that occurs If that's the case. I'm pretty sure this should be an auto 3-bet w/out question, and if he's so amazing as to have J9, so be it. I think this is an auto raise because I know the guy between us will call anyway. If I think he'll fold to my 3-bet, I just call. Anyone see any problems with my thinking? This hand really bothered me because this raise just totally stumped me.

Bet, bet, bet... and if he turns over J9 you can be happy you didn't give him more money. More likely you're going to see something substantially worse.
