Home games are legal in michigan as long as no one stands to make a profit from running of the game. IE a rake, drop, etc.

It seems like this MPC maybe right on the line with charging a vig for the rental of the hall/bar/etc. Either way, the vig on these events is huge $100+$30, no thanks.

Hmmm... According to this page, home games actually are illegal in Michigan even IF the host makes no profit.

There's conflicting laws on the books right now in Michigan. Accoriding to the Penal Code it's illegal, however, with the establishment of the Michigan Control Board it seems to make it legal. IANAL, however. I've known of big events in halls etc that had no problem. $100+$30 doesn't seem to be too bad considering they have an open bar as well.

for a 20 buyin

its not quite as far away as chip in though

i played in a wsop qualifier there in jan. 72 players at six tables

playin 12 handed i didnt know it was possible

i came in third in the tourney so i didnt get the invite but i did win 650 i think and proceeded to blow it all on booze and craps

Driving to work today I saw a new Greektown billboard advertising a poker tournament. I have no details other than that though, there's nothing on their website that gives any details either.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to pass on the Soaring Eagle tournament. I didn't realize it's on a Thursday.
