Hey everyone,
I'm heading into NYC tomorrow afternoon (Sat. the 28th). I decided to make the trip a couple hours ago, so I've done no planning or research; absolute whim. Booked my fare tonight. I'd scour the archives if I could for help but I need to pack. Anyway... I'll be staying out in Queens and may have access to a car. If I do, how long are the drives to AC and Foxwoods? How about directions? I should probably have one entire day to make a side trip, there and back, most likely Sunday. Besides the length of the trip, any other deciding factors? I want to play Hold'em only, preferably 4/8 or 5/10. Length of wait, quality of games, comps, etc. Any tips on getting me to a casino and back while I'm there will be *greatly* appreciated. And of course, if anyone in NYC wants to PM me about a game in the city, well, I'd consider that as well... Thanks, George |

Go to AC.
Bigger game selection, shorter waits. The trip should be about 2 hours either way. Have a safe trip! Joe |

Foxwoods has better limit hold em games and selection below 20/40. They have the best $5 big blind NL game, too.
AC has better baby NL, better game selection 20/40 and above, and the Borgata is the nicest room on the east coast. NYC seems to have the best $10 big blind big bet games in the middle of the week, but that's based on what other people have told me. Plus, you'll have to figure out how to get in. AC is probably a slightly shorter drive. scrub |

AC is slightly closer to Manhattan. I don't know where you are in Queens or whether that would put you closer to Foxwoods. To drive to AC get to the NJ Turnpike. Drive south to the Garden State Parkway. Drive South to the AC expressway. Drive east to AC. The trip from Manhattan is around 2.5 hours. It is probably longer from Queens.

Stay away from FW now, it sucks. Big crowds, lomg waits, lousy dealers, expensive food. Haven't been to AC in a while but it's got to be better.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for all the responses. It looks like the consensus is leaning towards AC. If I can nab the car I think that's what I'll do, probably play the Taj or Borgata. Plus, I notice if I get a new slot card at the Taj right now I can play for 30 minutes on any slot while I wait for a seat and they'll buy me a free tank of gas. Can't beat that :-) Again, a couple people advised I play in the city, but didn't follow up with where to find a game. No need to broadcast it, just PM me if you know of something. I can log on tonight up there and check my messages. Again, thanks for the responses on such short notice! George |

It sounds like you may have made up your mind but I will give a plug for Foxwoods over AC as well.
If you leave Queens by 8:00-8:30 A.M. at the latest, you will get to Foxwoods around 10:30 and that should put you ahead of the crowd. It doesn't really start getting crowded until closer to Noon. I am pretty sure Foxwoods is a little closer than AC from Queens. Just need to get over to the Throgs Neck and then you are pratically in Connecticut. Traffic should not be bad at all on a Sunday morning. |
