Yeah, I know, I know, it's a small sample size having only played for the last 2 days or so... but wow, applying some of the concepts from SSHE, obviously being a bit more aggressive than I'm used to it's been a serious roller coaster. Each session it feels like I'm swinging from +15BB to -10BB, and back and forth. Is this somewhat common at all with some of you other folks? I know that I'm not 100% on everything yet (nor do I think there's any way for me to be coming from the rather passive play I realized I was employing), but the swings have been large thus far.

Those swings are pretty normal for me. There was a recent post in SS started by whiskeytown that covers this. Here's the thread.
I doubt your variance is much higher with SSH, but I'm confident you'll exploit many more profitable situations. For what it's worth, the good posters in SS and Micros have been constantly giving advice with is identical to SSH. |

LOL... thanks for the pic.
Those numbers were kind of picked out of the air by me, not exact. But, like you said, I am finding myself building larger pots than I would have in the past. And, not seeing so many monsters that aren't there... i.e., not laying down hands just because one scare card falls. |

+15BB to -10BB
These are routine swings. You should check out this thread on streaks to see how wildly your totals can swing around your expected earn. |

Yeah, don't worry about that. My PokerStars bankroll started the day at $95, and playing .25/.5 in a lagtastic game, quickly decreased to $63. It's back up to $103 now, about 1.5 hours later. That's larger than normal, but it's only 60BB down, and back up 80BB.

yeah, but if you spend 3 minutes on it, you can enjoy the excitement of your own stats!

huge swings will always occur when you make significant changes in your game. It takes time to adjust and incorporate new things.
I would agree that some of the things in SSH may increase your short term variance...I'd rather see the increased long term profits from it than worry too much about the variance though. The swings you noted though are pretty normal sounding to me. |

it really depends on how much you like raising. I'm actually much more aggressive than what SSHE suggests, and my variance is out of control, but I believe my overall winrate is higher too because of my style. It's really a matter of taste, but some of the aggressive play in SSHE which is second nature to many of the posters here, but foriegn new players are crucial in drastically improving your winrate.
