Congrats on a great start to your quest.

That's quite a day at NL 25.

How many tables are you playing?

When you were "making a living" at poker was it online? If so, what site did you play at two years ago.

I wish you continued success.

Wow not only NL but 6-max. Talk about amping up the pressure.

Good way to magnify the effect of your skill advantage, though. I have a feeling you'll be posting some scary hands here and there. Well, scary to me anyway.

Grats on your great start!

I'm playing 3-4 tables, usually 4. When I was "working" I was playing mainly PartyPoker. I also played a great deal live. There are a few private cardgames in my area that I was able to break into at an early age, and a few older friends who saw I had some skill so they started backing me into games.

I thank you for your kind words.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, 6max is scary for a lot of people, but I've always prided myself on being a shorthanded specialist, and like you said, this is a good way to really put my skill advantage to good use. Hopefully the hands won't be too scary, but I'll admit right at the outset that I'm not really sure about what kinds of hands I should be posting, etc.

We'll just play it by ear I guess, but I am glad you're interested, and thanks for reading - this board is really going to help keep me motivated!

Well for now, unfortunately, the quest has ended.

After paying off my backer I went and had a $60 minus session. This session lasted several hours, but at the end it was a $60 loss. I had about $250 left, quit - and went and played the next day.

I'll post the hand histories if anyone is interested in seeing just how unsafe a $250 (10 Buyin) bankroll is for play in the $25NL... in 4 hours I had KK up against AA 3 times, and AA, KK, and QQ sucked out 8 times to flushes, once to a rivered set hitting a 2 outer (77).

I'd feel stupid if I played badly, I didn't. Multiple times I held these high pockets, the pot would be $10-$12 and I would bet $15 or more in an attempt to shut out the draw. Everytime it was called down and the flush would hit.

I dunno, I wish not to fill this board with a bad-beat story. I hope that my backer is going to reload me into the game on Monday, but for now I wanted to post this for all the people who may have been following this, or who had wished me well.

And if anyone would like to see the last 4 hours of hand histories from when this 10 buyin downswing occurred, let me know.

Seemed like a tiny bankroll to me, but I figured that was part of the thrill or the challenge for you. Can't really expect to avoid some beats here and there, and two or three hundred dollars doesn't give you much leeway.

Better luck next time. Don't feel too bad that you took a hit with a small bankroll. Somebody's gotta get hit sometime.

Nah, out of necessity. I was away from work on medical leave for some time, just now getting back. The %'s given for medical benefits were just enough to make ends meet once they started flowing so this was just an attempt to get rolling again. That's why in the initial post i said that there was no reloads at this point.

Tried to make do with what I had and it didn't work, I'm not mad at myself. Only would be mad at myself if I'd played badly and I really feel I didn't. I'd post some hands, but like I said - I don't want to turn this into a bad-beat thread. Hopefully my staker will get me back in on Monday or a more reliable one will surface that sees that with a proper bankroll I am a solid player.

I really feel had I been at 20 buyins i'd be back to normal already, 10 just wasn't enough to take that kind of variance.

Sounds like a very tough session. I'm sure you will find a backer easily especially since you paid the last one off so quickly. Next time you may want to keep the whole bankroll on the site a little longer instead of cashing out so quickly to pay back the backer in case you run into the same situation. Anyways good luck and pass the bong!!!

Nah, I'm not expecting anything easily, especially not in that area. The backer was another online player so it was expected that when the terms were met that the stake be repaid with profit, I didn't have a whole lot of choice in the matter. Obviously with a $750 roll like i had before I repaid, the risk of ruin for a good player would be just about nil in that game. I'm not that worried about it though, either that person will put me back in the game, or I'll get picked up by someone else, or I'll just save as much as I can from my meager paychecks and eventually get back into the game myself.

$500 makes all the difference, lol...
