Default Spyware and Adware removers

In a post earlier there was talk about spybot no longer working. Somebody said to uninstall and reinstall and it should work fine. I did this but it did nothing. However, when i was setting it up there was an option to immunize. I hit yes and it said i was now immunized against 1944 threats. Now is it possible that spybot never catches anything because it blocks it before i even get it?

Also ive ran spybot and adaware for a while and been happy. However, tonight i also downloaded spysweeper and it caught even more the other two were misssing. So maybe everyone should give it a try. The only problem is it is very slow compared to the other two.

I use SpySweeper based solely on what some people told me that it is the best. I used to use adaware and spybot. They seemed to work fine but not being a complete computer whiz, how would I know?

Looking forward to more experienced computer posters to hear what they think and maybe even detailed reasons, not just "I like this one better"

Default To prevent infection use this

To prevent spyware from installing to your PC , you should also install this:

To protect against reinfection, download and use these:
Javacool's SpywareBlaster
Javacool's SpywareGuard

To remove stuff you can also add this to the list:

CWShredder
HijackThis ---> be carefull what you select to remove

I agree with HiJackThis!

It has worked 3 times for me and is fairly easy to use.

Since most Spyware seems to target Internet Explorer specifically, the best way to avoid Spyware is to not use Internet Explorer. I suggest using Mozilla Firefox. You can download it at www.mozilla.org, it's fast, has lots of user-made extensions which allow you to customize pretty much everything, and the best part...it's completely free.

Very true. For some sites, I still have to use IExplorer on occasion. Just from that limited use, I can't believe how much garbage my computer picks up.

I've been using Ad-Aware; XoftSpy, and SpyHunter.

I used AdAware for a long time and switched to SpySweeper subscription services($20/year?) this year. It takes about 5 minutes to sweep. The first time I used it was after using AdAware then Spysweeper found a whole lot of crap still there. That was what sold me.

You cannot run just one spyware remover. Spybot does not catch all the spyware in your cpu. You need to include Ad-Aware in your list of programs. Ad-Aware is the best out there IMO and should be ran in conjunction with Spybot. here is the download link web page

Hijack This is also a good program.

Certain spyware will never be deleted by any removal program and have to be removed by you or a cpu technician especially if you need to clean files from your registry manually.
