It seems to me like this guy is a complete moron, however we do love them. I do however think because you had position you made an alright move in checking. If you were in first position I would say you have to at least make another 6 dollar bet to prevent your opponent from making a ridiculous all in attempt at a steal. If he reraises you, and it's reasonably call him down. If he pushes, think about your previous interactions with him, how has he been playing, is this how you would play quads, etc - and make your call based on those experiences.

Charms,
I had a similar situation happen to me in a live game. I had A-8, and so I got sixes full on the turn. He was checking, and I suspected a trap. Maybe he had a medium pair giving him a better boat. But an Ace fell on the river, giving me the best possible boat, unless he had A-A. I pushed all of my chips in and he called. He didn't have rockets, but he did turn over a 6 for quads. It cost me about $200. Yes, they can have quads. |

first, i would limp pre-flop. you're in EP with a limper in, so you have very low chances to steal the blinds. when the flop brings 1 or 2 overcards, what are you going to do? and if you're reraised, you'll have to fold, but if you limp and then call a $2 raise you'll have the implied odds on catching a set.
i'd bet the river. you're going to get paid off by the case 8, by a 4, and by a pocket pair. a hand like 99 or TT is likely going to the felt. villain might be waiting to check-raise you with a worse hand, and you should give him that opportunity. there aren't very many cold-calling hands that include a 6; i'd be willing to put my whole stack in here. think about it this way - with a board of 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], if there was a pre-flop raise, you'd feel pretty good about getting all your money in with the A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], right? |
