Not at the table long, but MP1 seems fairly tight.

Before we get to the raise, does anyone else think this is a loose call preflop. You are the first one in, and arent neccesarily guarenteed anyone else coming in with you. I think i fold here.

Flop. Hum. You have top pair but thats not why you entered the pot. Your kicker is not likely to be good, especially against a hand worth raising pf. I would call, and if you pair your kicker or get the flush draw, possibly raise the turn. Just my thoughts.

Yeah, definitely a loose call preflop. I forgot SSH's recommendations in this situation . . .

But I'm interested in the flop play once I'm in the hand. Playing aggressively with marginal hands in a fairly big pot + gaining information = raise?

I think the preflop play has been discussed thoroughly enough, but remember that when you call from the SB, YOU are first to act when the flop comes. Big disadvantage.

On the flop, I think the raise for information was ok, but you didn't use it...you should have folded after he reraised. You could be drawing dead, even if you spike a 9 on the turn. Furthermore, there was nobody else left in the pot, so there aren't any potential calling stations keeping you in the pot.

Preflop: From SB, I'd fold A9s for 1.5 bets but call in BB for 1 bet. This is especially true if you feel MP1 is "fairly tight" like you mentioned.

Flop: I like your check-raise. You're trying to narrow the field on a vulnerable A killing gutshot draws and other smaller pairs. MP1's reraise almost certainly means he has at least AQ and more likely AK, KK or AA.

Turn: I like check-folding the turn unless you feel he's been bluffing too much, then calling down seems prudent. You said MP1 is pretty tight. That seems more the reason to release here.

If he folds to a 3-bet on the flop here, he'll be exposing himself to shots by other players. It's not only worthwhile to see the turn to get an A, 9 or a diamond for the backdoor nut flush draw, it's also a good investment to keep from having a target painted on his forehead.

You got your answers now, I agree with them.

pf-call that raise with no cold-callers inbetween is to loose from SB.

Good flop-raise, when re-raised you are probably behind.

Good fold on the turn here.

This sounds good in theory or if you're at a live table with attentive players, but the majority of online players aren't paying enough attention to notice(porn, multi-tabling etc). I just don't think this should sway his decision one way or the other.
