Re: lmao at Annie Duke
okay, goofball...I used "I" and "we" in those posts you quoted because the point I was making sounds stronger in the first person, than if I had said "rich people do this" and rich people do that." It was simply a way to make a point.
I am not rich nor do I have any reason to claim to be so. Sorry if your literal-mindedness can't fathom the concept of arguing a point in the first person... but hey, I'm glad my posts interest you so much. |

[[ QUOTE ] How about golf? Do you think someone whos never played golf can become as good as pros who have been practicing since they were 5 years old in only 6 months? Obviously, not! Thats absurd. [/ QUOTE ] Golf is different, as it is a purely physical game. [/ QUOTE ] Geez, I don't even play golf and I can see how absurd this statement is. |

Like Chess, some people just "get it" and can become incredible in a short amount of time with proper training. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I bet you can find some GMs who achieved that rating within 6 months |

Re: lmao at Annie Duke
Allow me to sum up the entire thread.
People who have played for years trying to become world class cannot accept that someone else has succeeded where they have failed, particularly someone who has been ludicrously successfull in other aspects of his life. It would destroy their ego entirely, so regardless of circumstance, if Affleck won every event at the '05 WSOP, it wouldn't matter. There's no incentive for Annie to make arbitrary false assements of his skill. She's observed his play exponentially more than his critics who simply assume what she says can't be true without any evidence, just out of insecutiry. Now, if she'd only start reading scripts for him, we might get somewhere. |
