I was there last week on Wed. Playing the 2-4, I made 50 bucks. Decent tables while I was playing and nice big spacious poker room. Nice casino too.

The Nugget is the nicest casino/hotel downtown. It's clean, classy and big compared to the other downtown casinos. The poker room itself is very nice, a lot of space, very high ceilings and non-smoking. When I was there this last weekend, they were running 2/4, 4/8 HE and one NL 1/2 table. They also have a daily tourney at 11am, which is Limit the first hour and NL after. And a daily evening tourney. Also, you can walk to the Plaza or Horseshoe in 5 minutes!

Word is that the poker room, which is really just a big event tent outside by the pool, will be closed and moved inside the casino soon.

Default more on the $30 tournament

I watched the last table of the $30 tournamnet on tuesday. There were about 109 entrants and they paid out the top 9. 1st paid out about $2000, 2nd -$1500, and 3rd-$500. It started at 11am and ended about 5 when the last three players agreed to split the remaining prize money 3 ways. There were a lot of mistakes made by most of the people on the final table - I don't think the skill level was particularly high. The lady in 4th place was definately a beginner and I didn't see any particularly skilled play. The chip leader was bleeding chips all over the place and he was very happy to deal at the end. Probably a great 1st tournament experience if anyone is interested.

Okay, so maybe their card room isn't that great. How about the hotel? Has anyone stayed there, and what did you think?

[/ QUOTE ]

I stayed there about a month ago, and had no complaints -- it was a typical basic hotel room. The air conditioning wasn't working well when we checked in, but the maintenance guy fixed it pretty quickly as soon as we complained, which is about all you can ask for. The rooms were clean, and (iirc) there was a safe in the closet.
