Everything i've heard is that harrah's has a terrible room. The biggest action is still the $20/$40 at ameristar, and the worst/easiest players are playing $1/$2 NL and 1-4-8-8 at the admiral.

Default Re: Poker in St Louis--THE FACTS

Last Night in the St Louis Poker Rooms:

Harrahs (Maryland Heights) -- packed.
One 3-6 Stud table. The rest are Holdem.
10-20, two tables. Saturday is to be "10-20 day".
1-2 NL, one table.
3-6, eight tables.

Ameristar (St Charles) --also packed.
One 5-10 w/kill Omaha/8 table. The rest are Holdem.
20-40, one table.
1-2 NL, two tables.
6-12, two tables.
3-6, eight tables.

The Harrahs room is new, quiet, beautiful - very nice. Many of the dealers are still learning -- very few problems and much better than last month. The Ameristar room is only 18 months old, but it does seem much noisier. Ameristar usually has more than one red chip game. Monday night PLO game is still an attraction.

Games were quite easy at both locations at all limits. Lots of 22 year olds (with mandatory sunglasses and backward caps) in most of the games.

$500 chip purchase per 2 hour "period" is still in effect. There is NO ! reason for this to ever be a problem. If you need more chips to play 20-40, put your name on ALL the lists and go buy 500. Then sit in a 10-20 game or smaller for a few minutes until the next two hour period starts and buy another 500. If you think you need more than $500 for any game smaller than 20-40 --- well, ----others can elaborate what your problem is.

Any game in St. Louis is like posturpedic, as in nice and soft. There is a way to get around the buyin laws at Harrahs casino, unfortunetly the biggest game they spread is 10/20, therefore its not a big deal, but they have 2 gaming liscences, one for isle of capri, and one for harrahs, as you are walking in, go to the isle side, buy 500$, then another 500$ when you go up to the poker room. You could theoretically have 2000$ in chips in 2 hours, so hopefully the management will start spreading the big games. Im from St. Louis, about a block and a half from Ted Drewes, along Francis park, but will be moving to a house over on "the hill", if anyone is interested, Id be more than willing to host a game from my house there. I should be moving in, in January or so. Also, the loss limits are done on the even hours, so yes, you can walk in at 1:55, buyin, then while you wait for a seat go back at 2:01. Shoot me an email at pokergames16@hotmail.com if you are interested in the game, and what limit you guys want, anything from 10/20-?

I live in Missouri, and your description of the buy-in rules is wrong. When you buy chips, it records the time of the buy-in, and from THAT TIME, you must not exceed $500 until 2 hours has passed.

Another poster's idea of the bathroom buy sounds good though!

Unless they changed this recently you can buy $500 at one until the hour and buy again in one minute. That was the way it was six months ago.
