4 handed Party S&G big stack on imm left
I have been coming in 4th way too much.
Im usually the first to take chances in this spot, but the blinds get so high I feel its often worth it. Anyways after making the following play I analyzed it and came with a different conclusion: 4 handed. 3 short stacks around 1200 (Im short), Big stack has 4K+ in BB, Im in SB.. Fold to me, I have JT with 300blind.. I push.. Now after analying in detail, Im obviously in the worse position on the table...I need to push frequently, but will get called more than other 2 shorts since Bigstack will never act before me (except when Im in BB)... So Im gonna get called a higher % of times than other 2 players...So no doubt this tournament Ill finish 4th more than 25% of time here. In hindsight, Id be much better off waiting till on the button or UTG for a few reasons. #1) Big stack has less to protect and will call less. #2) Ill punish other small stacks by raising them. #3) smaller stacks dont have luxury to call with many hands. Correct logic? If you do fold and have 1000T left, would you raise any 2 on button next hand? |

Re: 4 handed Party S&G big stack on imm left
Good push.
My most common finish is fourth place. I think you have to take chances like this. JT has way too much value here to fold. I'd push with a lot of hands, my favorite spot to push as a short is when its folded to me in the SB. I have by far the most loose requirements for pushing in this spot. There are a lot of hands, like J8o, that I would not push UTG but I would certainly push from the SB. -Jason |
