Raise? Call? hoping to induce action by the blinds?

Where is this? Live or online? Are the players tight-passive/fishy/aggressive? What are people's likely perceptions of you as a player? If I have a read on someone as decent and he open-limps on the button, personally sirens go off.
Notwithstanding all that, I raise JJ here 100% of the time. |

It's on pokerroom.com, so I sometimes wonder who pays attention or not. But to answer your question, it appears to be tight passive. When guys are certain they have the nuts they will raise.
Regardless to say I raised and the blinds folded. |

This is better than limping and losing to Q3o when a Q flops. Like everyone else said, raise 100% of the time here. |

Poker is a very balanced game. The EV of JJ on the button is of course much greater than the blinds you take down here. So it seems you miss out when you take down the blinds. But this is made up for by all the trash hands you raise in this same spot, and take down the blinds with. Against some weak-tight blinds almost any 2 cards are gonna be profitable here.
Another idea is this. IF you have been raising and showing down some marginal hands in this spot, you might be able to get some action from a weaker hand. Then you will show them your true strength of JJ and they will see you are not messing around. Then you can go back to robbing their blinds with marginal hands. |
