haha... AoC talk "rox"
Just a player for a 3-4 years... Not Koven though . Saw your post about 5 months ago and searched to see is "cornell2005" was playing on Party. Then I saw your link to "2+2" and realized that we had both been going to that place too. (I have been a lurker/poster for about 3 years). Well, today I saw your username here and realized that I have been reading and posting with a familiar name (cornell2005). I went back to BsKzone and searched your post and saw that you were the same person. Cool to see you on here. We should play sometime if you still play the game. We can have a 2+2 AoC gathering. Although, I do remember you saying something about quitting.) -Tom by the way, I liked your WSOP qualifier report. Wasn't newbish sounding like all other poker reports at non-poker sites. I bet everyone else is like "wtf?" |

Another disadvantage is that you reopen the betting for a limp-reraise.

from LP to buy the button or to double up the pot with a good drawing hand on passive tables
from EP to limit no. of limpers - often done with medium pairs or to disguise a monster (or on aggressive tables with a monster to suggest weakness to an over the top re-raise) works well in low stake games from my experience, no mattre how much teh books tell you it's 'bad play' (much like all-ins with AA and KK - with up to 40% all-in callers at the low level NL tables all-in with these esp if raise in front is often best EV) |

I agree with El Diablo. Over at the $100 or $200 max buy-in NL cash game at Commerce, most will not limp re-raise. I don't know why, but for some reason the players just don't use it. If you see a player making these small raises a lot in back and you're in middle position a limp re-raise would be a great move with hands like A-K, A-Q, or better, but I never see anyone doing it.

i've seen it recently at the 5-5 at Oceans11.
A guy in late position minraised and an EP limper popped it big. |

I was simply replying to somebody who says they never see it happening.
And jackass, i'm agreeing with you. I think it is terrible to minraise, and that was one of the reasons. |

The reason most of us (especially me) HATE the min raise preflop is that ... 1. it serves virtually no useful purpose in any circumstances Not true. Often, you'll find yourself next to very tight players who dont defend their blinds. In a passive game, where there is little risk of being reraised, these mini-raises can buy you the button, a free card, and steal the blinds. I do agree though that it is often better to come in with a larger raise. |
