Default stealing question

Pacific Poker .25/.50
I am BB with K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and Villain is SB. No read on Villain.

Preflop
8 folds, SB completes, Hero checks
**ok I decided to try to steal from this guy on the flop, should this be a conscious decision ahead of time or what?**

Flop (1.5 SB) 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
SB checks, Hero bets, SB raises, Hero 3-bets, SB caps, Hero calls
**whoa, this guy must either know that I'm stealing and/or made something on the flop. That's not horrible b/c I still have 7 outs (4 3's to the straight, and the K's of course - are these legit?)**

Turn (2.75 BB) K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (Heads up)
SB bets, Hero raises, SB calls

** I think I have him beat legitamately now**

River - blank (6.75 BB)
SB bets, Hero raises, SB calls

Final Pot - 10.75 BB

Am I just off my rocker here? Partially I was experimenting with steals, where did I go wrong (obviously it didn't work-he didn't frickin' fold!)? Then when my out hit, I thought I had a legit hand. How would others play this? Fold to the flop 3-bet?

When did you make the decision to steal? After the flop?

If I'm trying to steal, I would have raised this pf.

Other than that, I'm bailing out somewhere around the flop raise. The pot is small. You may be beat, and it doesn't look like the SB is going to give up. If you raised this pf, you may have had a better chance.

PF: I'd raise, it helps on the later streets.
Flop: call the check-raise, you are playing for your K, 3, and maybe 5 outs.
Turn: fold unimproved, call if you hit the 5. raise the K or 3.
River: blank, what blanks are possible? 9, T? i may just call the stop-n-go depending on the 'blank'.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but it's fairly important.

For the love of god find a different table. The 15/30 on Pacific sees 4+ to the flop on average, move up there. No way would I sit at a .25/.50 table where 8 players are folding to the SB before the flop.

Table selection is a big part of poker.

Peace,
Joe Tall
