Default Reviews of Eagle Games No Limit Software

Eagle Games, aka Donohue Digital, has recently come out with a software package called Tournament Poker - No Limit Texas Hold'Em.

Does anyone have any experience with this software?

Would it be a valuable tool for practice?

Is it realistic model of actual tournament conditions?

Yes, I have had it for about two weeks. It allows you to play many tournaments quickly. I set it up to emulate a PS tourney with 1000 people. Best finish was 4th, and I finished in about 30 minutes (real time). I like the way you can configure tourneys based on blinds and starting chip counts. It has a hands per hour setting which allows it to simulate a real tourney in a fraction of the time.

The AI is where you find the weakness. You can easily figure out the most optimum bets, and start to get consistant final table finishes, even on the hard setting. However, there is plenty of bluffing, and slow playing to give you a challenge.

It plays good correct poker, and will teach you to be a solid player. The only problem is that it doesn't emulate the idiots who will call your all-in bets with 3 outs.

For example, a minimum raise when folded to you pre-flop will generally cause everyone to fold to your raise, unless they have a good hand. This will happen about 3 out of four times in the software, but rarely in a real tourney.

I have suggested an API so people can write their own bots and make them as smart or as stupid as necessary. One of their engineers said they will look into it for v2.0.

It is a nice peace of software. And I feel it has made me a better player.

Default Eagle Games No Limit Software - Cost

$30 if ordered directly from the website; but you can also get it a variety of stores, such as Target for $20.
