Default $5/$10 NLHE PS qq vs. Gift of Gab

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $10 BB (7 handed)

SB ($990)
BB ($313)
Hero ($1142)
MP1 ($1250.50)
MP2 ($387)
Gift of Gab ($1023)
Button ($385)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
Hero raises to $30, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, CO calls $30, Button folds, SB folds, BB calls $20.

Flop: ($95) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $75, CO calls $75, BB folds.

Turn: ($245) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $200, CO raises to $918, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $1363

During this hand I thought, "it's pretty obvious I have a high pocket pair, maybe he's bluffing. why would he choose a hand in which i have a pocket pair (very likely aces) to bluff though?". I don't see how I can check the turn, I could call his raise though. I'm getting pretty good pot odds, I think about 1:2 and I think my hand will be good some of the time here, but I don't like getting all my chips in with QQ against a good player. I think I was playing a little on the tight side, nothing special in terms of table images.

Thoughts?

You're getting 1:2 on your money, your hand is good "some of the time" and you think those are "pretty good odds"?

I don't get it. Make some sense out os this situation for me, Bruiser.

I fake slowplaying all the time against good players. My guess is GiftofGab had a few outs, and figured he'd represent trip sixes or a full house, and force you to lay down your overpair.

Default oops

I misread the hand summary. I thought GoG had checkcalled the flop. Still, the smooth call on the flop suggests a big hand (or a drawing hand that could have hit when the 8 fell).

My post was somewhat rambling... I just mean, I think my pot odds are decent, I'm getting 2:1 (I mispook when I said 1:2) and I think there is definitly a chance my hand will be good some of the time. Seems like a very close decision.

So you think he would be bluffing close to 66% of the time in this situation?

I just played an almost similar hand.

Lp got me coverd with 10 chips. No reads at all, 3rd hand at the table.

I am in the SB with QQ
LP bets pot 35, Button call, i call.
Flop comes 662
I check, LP bets pot 115, Button folds, i raise it 115, LP pots again and push in my last 110 for an all in raise. He calls and shows AA.

Wish i could have folded to his reraise, i simply couldnt put him on A6s or any other hand involvning a 6, not with 1 more player yet to act. The possibilty of him having AA or KK vs 77,88,99,TT,JJ made me put all my money in. I simply thought i had the best hand.

This, BTW, looks very similar to the KK hand I just posted.
