I have PokerTracker set to do an auto-retrieve of 100 hands every 45 minutes. I am only single tabling now, so it works well for me. You can have it auto-retrieve more often to suit your needs, or force it to auto-retrieve whenever you want.

And once I get them all I just have to do the "copy from hotmail inbox to local inbox" operation once?

[ QUOTE ]
1) open your history,
2) highlight all the text (drag or edit\select all),
3) copy text (control-c or right-click\copy),
4) open notepad and paste (control-v or right-click\paste),
5) save as a text file.

Man... I don't know how long I did this... was a pain in the keister.

If you are looking at your mail (I use yahoo) in explorer, just click... File... Save As... Change the file type to *.txt, and name it something you remember. I use 1111.txt.

Takes 1/20th the time as cutting and pasting.

Don't worry about the excess garbage in the txt file.... pokertracker ignores it.

I can now load about 1k of hands in about 2-5 mintues.

Yes, I just copy them to the local inbox, then click Check Email from the Import Hand Histories screen in Poker Tracker, and it pulls them in without any problems.

my current email server is a webbased uni one and has this awful trait of adding

=20

at the end of some lines, which of course riles up PT something chronic. so i stick with the 5 step program until my POP3 account is up and running.

But "file\save as" is a kickass way when it works.

I've been copying and pasting from hotmail to a local text file, but reading this thread, I've opened up Outlook for the first time.

I've got it to pull my Hotmail into a local Hotmail - Inbox folder. How do I make that my default inbox folder? Or how do I make that the folder that PT checks?

I've just been tinkering with it and I'm not sure you can do that. (Which sucks.)

I'm going to keep trying though. Maybe I can figure it out.

I just did what everyone in this thread is discussing a few days ago. I have Hotmail, tried using Outlook etc etc...

You can't make the Hotmail folder the one PT checks. I haven't found a way to make that the default either, but I think this one may be possible.

Here is a much simpler way to do this that I finally did after messing with Hotmail/Outlook for awhile. Go to www.hotpop.com and open a free Pop3 account. It has a 10 MB storage limit and once you import your hand history (or check your mail using Outlook or equivalent) it won't be stored on the hotpop server anymore. I changed my Party and Empire email addresses to the hotpop account and then PT can import the histories as soon as they are in the inbox.

i just tried hotpop, got eudora and PT both to read from their pop server. Now, party poker refuses to send an email validation code to my new hotpop account, so I can't make the switch. whee..

Not sure about hotpop. It took me 10 requests before I got a validation code sent. Now I've requested my last 100 hand history three times and have not received it. I've switched back to yahoo, validated my yahoo account, and received a hand history all in the last minute.. so i'm not sure how reliable hotpop is.
