Default Pocket 8\'s

Party 3/6 - no hard reads on anyone yet.

I'm UTG with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I limp, 3 folds, MP raises, folded to BB who calls, I call.

Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I bet (I'm ahead of AK), MP raises (uh-oh), BB folds, I call.

Turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Check, Bet, Call(I'm still ahead of AK)

River: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Check, Bet, Call

I felt like I played this hand pretty weak by just calling down. Middle pockets in early position always give me grief.
How do you play it?

Depends on who the raiser is. If he is a pretty tight raiser who is going to be raising with AA-TT, Big Aces and big suited 20s, I can't see too many hands you are ahead of.(Assuming you have them in PT)

If he is a loose raiser, you still may be in trouble because there aren't a ton more that you would be ahead of except other Aces without a Queen. You really made no move on the pot to find out where you were. This isn't always a tragedy, but you need to know your opponents. If this is someone who will continue to bet, no matter what (with a hand like JTs), it *might* be best just to call him down. Notice also how your poor position puts you at a disadvantage here.

I check the flop and if BB folds to his bet I checkraise him.

the way you played it tho, I think you could have prolyl saved yourself the river call, AK here checks behind 90% of the time.

How about bet the turn and fold to a raise?

If you put him on AK, betting would be better than check/calling. Just to put the decision on him. I find that not many Party players bluff raise, so you can get outta town for that one BB if faced with a raise.
