Default High quality clays

I recently recieved sample chips from homepokerchips, and pokerchips.com. I really like the pokerchips.com chips, the clay sound, brass speckles, nice inlay, edgespots, and indentations are all nice, but it isn't heavy enough for my taste. The 8.5-9 gram chips seem to be just too light.

Homepokerchips are nice, but edgespots don't line up, and they sound like coins which is a big No for me.

Homepokerchips chips are about 10 grams, and I can deal with that kind of weight, but not 8.5-10. Does anyone know of pokerchips that are pokerchips.com quality yet weigh more than 9 grams.

FYI:
My dream chip is brass weighted clay, 12 edgespots, dayglo colors, 1" inlay, and 10-11 grams of weight. Too bad nobody makes em like that for common folk.

The chipco ceramic (which is what homepokerchips sells) is supposed to be 10 grams and the pokerchips.com clay are 9 grams. I got samples of chipco chips and I gotta be honest, the weight difference between those and the custom with edge spots clay chips from pokerchips.com is negligible.

From what I understand 9-10 grams is standard casino weight. I'd suggest you pick based on look, feel and price and not pay so much attention to a 1 gram weight difference.

buypokerchips.com has some decent chips, although they're still 9g and may be too light for your taste - but, have you ever played poker at or at least gambled at a casino? casinos don't use chips that are heavier than 10g, so I'm not sure why you'd want such a heavy chip in the first place.

Yes, I have been to a casino, and I have spent a decent amount of time at foxwoods.

I put a homepokerchips.com chip on a scale at the lab where I work, it weighed 10.66 grams. I put a pokerchips.com clay pokerchip on the scale and it weighed 8.64 grams. This is a difference of 2 grams.

I let 4 fellow poker players handle both chips and they all agreed that they liked the heavier weight of the homepokerchips.com poker chip, and 3 of them liked the look and feel of the pokerchips.com poker chip and one of them like the ceramic chips look and feel better. This feedback was given to me by all four players after simply giving them the chips and asking "What chip do you like better, and why?"

Granted this isn't a large sample set, but I agree with what every single one of them said about the weight. I do not care about reproducing the feel of the casino chip, I care what feels good to me, and all the people that play at my table. Besides, I have a feeling that the casino chips at foxwoods will weigh in at about 10.6 grams just like the homepokerchips.com poker chip. I have a strong feeling that in searching for a 10 gram chips I will not only be looking for what feels better, but reproducing the Foxwoods casino chip weight. But we will have to wait till my next visit to foxwoods to find out.

The casino chips were weighed on a Mettler AE160 scale, and it is accurate to the 1/10,000 of a gram.

Bottom line:
I prefer the 10-11 gram weight, and so does everyone I've talked to.

wack, I don't know why or if its big deal to me, but I like a heavier chip too. I don't even mind the diamond cheaper chips. They don't stack as well but I kinda like listening to the slight click messing with them. I think it's like the playing surface, go with what you like. Enjoy.

Well then it's simply a matter of personal preference, it wasn't an attack or anything. I was just suggesting a different variety of chip is all. Best of luck finding what you're looking for. If you find anything reasonably priced and worth the wait in line for drop me a line I'd love to check it out.

Well, I found the answer myself Homepokertourney.com says they're manufactured by pokerchips.com. Well then, we know the quality is good but...

No offense taken. I commonly see people say that casino's use 8-9 gram chips. This may be true in Vegas, but I have yet to go to a riverboat or casino that uses the lighter weight chips, let alone clay. The lack of clay is a bit disappointing, but I agree with the heavier feel of the chips at the places I've been visiting. Granted next time I go I will swipe a few chips just to make sure I'm not imagining things, but again everyone that has visited the same places I have agrees with me.

If I find a place that makes heavy clays, I will drop you a line, but right now the only thing I can find that is clay and a decent weight is at Kardwell, they refer to it as the "Ten O sixes" or "Clay dice chips with no metal inserts". Make sure you make them realize that you do not want the composite chips as they have sent me the wrong kind before.

Damn shame if you want binions type chips, Dayglo colors and tons of edgespots really do make nice looking chips.

Wacki,
Are the foxwoods and binions chips made by Paulson? Just curious. I have a few Hat and Cane chips from some downtown vegas casinos and compared them to the clay samples I have from pokerchips.com. At first I couldn't tell any difference in weight, but after playing with them a bit, I could tell the casino chips were slightly heavier. If I were buying chips, I don't think the weight would bother me as much, but I would prefer and option on edge spots versus the stock 3-wide spots on pokerchips.com. Do you know of any place where i can see pictures of binions chips, just wondering what they look like since you seem to like them? Thanks.
