Re: Try this?
That's funny, I feel the same way. I am still awaiting my design proofs from Chipco.
I noticed a lot of ceramic customs on the later pages of that casinocom page you sent. Like pages 8-11, mixed in with the clays. Have you determined what casinocom charges for custom art? Ten |

Re: Try this?
I sent them an email to feel it out. I think they used to to custom Hat & Cane but now only chipco (that is just a gut feeling, the last pages are all chipco).

Re: Try this?
My whole order of 300 will only be like $320 so it is actually cheaper than pokerchips.com
The art charges you paid are insane, but custom is custom. The paulsons are nice though. |

The art charges you paid are insane, but custom is custom. [/ QUOTE ] Well, I haven't paid anything yet. I've been quoted $995 for art, with only four unique sides. Once I see their art, I'll make a decision. THEN I will try to get them down. I think I should be able to get them down to $440, which is $185 per side, a quote I've seen Chipco charge other people. I'll post my art once I see the first draft. Ten |

Re: Try this?
Fellas,
I am the author of Drew's Chip guide (http://www.mynameismatt.com/cg). I am just about to update the guide and I'll be moving to a new address. I have contact information for Chipco, Nevada Jacks, Blue Chip Co, etc. I'll be conducting phone interviews (I hope) to try and see where we are moving with the upper chip market. Keep calm - I'll be working on the site this week. Thanks fellas! -Drew |

Re: They just don\'t make chips for the public like they used to...
I say it because the original poster spoke of wanting clay chips like he used to see back in the day, but is "stuck with" pokerchips.com chips. Those "back in the day" chips havent been used in 75 years, and while pokerchips.com chips are going to be about as close as you get to them, they are not clay chips.
He isnt going to find a place to get custom chips from that offers what he wants in a true clay chip, because they dont last very long and no one makes them. he will have to stick with a place that sells composite chips and offers those customizations. |

Re: They just don\'t make chips for the public like they used to...
This might be a silly question, but would anyone happen to know which type of chips are in the movie Rounders (at Teddy KGB's club, or even the Chesterfield)? We get a couple of closeups on them and it seems to me that they're fairly nice, although the sounds they make aren't particularly accurate (most likely produced by a foley artist behind the scenes) I think their style is pretty good (especially the black with green edgespots).

Re: They just don\'t make chips for the public like they used to...
This is true - http://pokerchips.com/help/moviechips.html
Clay chips not lasting is just not true in a home game situation. They only last 5-6 years of CONSTANT casino use, but they should last a lifetime of thursday night games. |
