Re: AT as BB facing a raise
Holy Sh$t, this is the weak tight thread of the day.
I think folding to this preflop raise is horrible. I may even three bet depending what I think of the raiser. After that I check call the flop, let the PFR bet his hand. I like a turn check raise and a river bet. Also find a better table than this. Tosh and CDC, your were joking right? |

Re: AT as BB facing a raise
I agree that is does matter the strength/skill of the player at hand, and also that there aren't too many of them at this level. I think that 3-betting for one SB will help find out our situation here. If capped, then I would check-call the rest of the hand unimproved. If just called, then our hand might be good. I have seen too many hands get open raised like this with JJ-KK to immediately fold this. Get a little more information, add it to your read, and play accordingly.
P.s. How'd it end up? What did you do? |

As a UB player I like this type of table (yes, this is somewhat sarcastic).

Re: AT as BB facing a raise
no way! The odds he is holding the ace is very slim, you should 3-bet. I think the most likely situation is UTG+2 is holding KK, QQ or KQ (or even lower), and HE is assuming no one has the 3rd ace. 3-bet this and see where it goes from there.

I wasn't joking. I don't know about the other posts though.

Re: AT as BB facing a raise
As I said in an earlier post, I was hoping he either had a small to mid pocket pair (so I was hoping to flop a ten or an ace), or I was hoping to flop an ace over his KK - JJ. Either way, the flop rather clobbered me, so I bet out on the flop. I decided his raise meant I was beat, so I called the flop and check-called it to the river.
As a side note, some have suggested 3-betting the flop (which I certainly can't disagree with). If, say, he would've capped it, should I at that point assume the worst and lay it down? |

Re: AT as BB facing a raise
No unless I rate my opponent as a LAG, I fold.

Re: AT as BB facing a raise
Maybe I just can't let this nice-looking hand go so easily, but I 3-bet and then call down if capped (assuming unimproved.)

Re: AT as BB facing a raise
Or perhaps this is just where I get lost on some of this betting for information. If I 3 bet here, and he caps, I feel he's telling me that he's not affraid of my wimpy ace.

Re: AT as BB facing a raise
I raise many hands in this spot on the when Im the PFR. I really dont give credit to our hero for having an A when the flop has two and he is on the BB. However I would not three bet(being the hero now). You dont want to scare a worse hand which is probably drawing very thin away yet. Check call the flop.
Wait to show your strength on the expensive streets here. |
