Re: Best Limit at the Mirage???
From what I saw on my short visit, the 10-20 game played
pretty much like the 3-6 game at the cardroom where I Floor, but the 20-40 game looked pretty awful most of the time (it was not a tough game, just fairly tight - but I only sat in it twice on my short visit). |

Re: Best Limit at the Mirage???
It depends on the kind of player you are? If you are good enough to beat the 20-40 of course you have to play 20-40. I've been to Vegas for two months last year and the 6-12 was ok. The 10-20 during the day was very tight. The 3-6 is much easier than the 6-12 only the rake is relatively high. I like the Mirage more than the Bellagio, but I think the best game is the 4-8 in the Bellagio. The quality of the game is the same as the 3-6 in the Mirage but the rake is relatively lower. The 6-12 in the Mirage and the 8-16 in the Bellagio is much tougher.

Re: Best Limit at the Mirage???
These generalizations tend to be oversimplified -- "the 6/12 is soft, the 10/20 is easy, the 40/80 is full of fish, etc." If you sit down at a table and Clarkmeister, Dynasty, PokerBabe, Gabe and Barry Tanenbaum are playing, then you should probably find another game.

Re: Best Limit at the Mirage???
I agree with you about the overgeneralizations...
I always hear how the $6/$12 is such a soft game. I spent about 2 hours playing $6/12 before moving to $10/$20 and it was probably the toughest live game I've ever played in. I managed to win about $150 because I flopped two sets (boated one of them against a smaller boat)... but that game was full of tight aggros. The 10/20 i got called to was relatively soft... full of average players for the most part. Believe it or not, I've sat at a couple of relatively tough $3/$6 games at the Borgata too... Limits are only a generalization... I've played 10/20 games with 6/7 to the flop every hand and 2/4 games where it was the button or cut-off heads up with the big blind 3 times per orbit... |

Re: Best Limit at the Mirage???
From my (very) limited experience, the answer is that the best game to play is probably the best game to play. I played three days (okay, mostly nights, all night) at the Mirage, and the 6/12 ranged from a fish pond to a rock garden.
Watch the games, be choosy. Play the highest limits your BR allows, but only good games. |
