Re: Is there such a thing as a Bad Game?
I think you may be thinking a little too much about player strategy.
Here are bad games. 1. - where it's a home game and players are cheating 2. - where the juice is so high or the blinds are so large it negates your skill or ability to make 1BB/hr. 3. - A game with stakes so high your BR cannot support any downward swings whatsoever is a bad game. otherwise, any game where you're smarter then over half the players, even if they're fish who raise/call with anything...is positive EV - really tight games where you are the worst player are negative -EV, but keeping your eyes open and learning something might pay off in the long run. Re: Is there such a thing as a Bad Game?
[/ QUOTE ]"adjusting" to the very very loose games is much tougher than most people make it out to be. ... I also find that most people who make the above "adjustment" statement, have no clue how to actually make those adjustments. [/ QUOTE ] The adjustments to play that nearly insure a 2BB+ gross win rate at super-loose limit hold 'em games are absurdly simple. The act of making those adjustments within a year's time is impossible for nine out of ten. Tommy |

After all 2BB/hr. is twice the oft quoted "1BB/hr. is what an expert expects to make". So I'm all ears! I have to admit, my usual strategy for any scenario I don't feel comfortable with is to tighten up and try to come in with the best hand, Probably not ideal, but seems logical. |

Re: Is there such a thing as a Bad Game?
"So, what *are* those adjustments?"
To play nothing but pocket pairs, AK and AQ before the flop, and to fold on the flop with no pair or nut draw. "What makes them so difficult to implement?" Because you have to be insane and perfect. Tommy |

Re: Is there such a thing as a Bad Game?
In reply to play only pocket pairs and AK and AQ.I always play Axs.I usually get 5 to 10 callers and raise for value. The swings are enormous but it works.Lots of other hands are playable too.

But then I'm likely insane...but therefore not perfect. :-) Seriously though, I know for a fact that if I get it in my head that this is "the way" could do it, until something *proved* to me it wasn't the way. For what range of playing conditions do you feel this adjustment makes sense? I once read a poster's comment on another bulletin board tha reccomended "Play only Group ! hands for a raise" as core to his method for beating the $5-5 games in Blackhawk CO. So this wouldn't be the first time I've seen this sort of advice. |

"For what range of playing conditions do you feel this adjustment makes sense?"
1) B&M game 2) Almost no unraised pots 3) Almost no pots with less than five players to the flop 4) Lots and lots of players and money so that all involved know that the huge pots will remain huge for hours to come. Tommy |
