Another weak play on my part
Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (6 handed)
Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG folds, MP calls, CO folds, Button folds, Hero completes, BB checks. Flop: (3 SB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets, BB folds, MP raises, Hero folds. Final Pot: 3 BB I still haven't mastered playing top pair/no kicker, and I felt like the pot wasn't big enough to test my skills here. Still, I feel like this is a huge leak in my game. Any comments are much appreciated as always. |

Re: Another weak play on my part
Don't fold top pair for 1 bet heads up in a SH game, especially on a board with such obvious draws.

Re: Another weak play on my part
I call then go for a check/raise on the turn. Top pair no kicker short-handed is strong.

Re: Another weak play on my part
Didn't read the board carefully, I probably stop and go. Personal preference I think. Both are likely to get similar ammount of bets out of him.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm afraid I'm not sure what you all mean by, "a stop and go" though I guess I could guess. Good advice here, as always. I feel I get a little less weak/tight everyday. |

Re: Another weak play on my part
Different from the No-Limit move imortalized by our world champion Greg "Fossilman" Raymer in the multi-table tourny forum. It involves raising pre-flop with a mediocre hand, then when reraise instead of pushing all in because you feel the opponent WILL NOT FOLD you simply call. Then you push all in on the flop no matter what comes. It gives you an extra opportunity to make him fold where he wouldn't have if you'd pushed the rest of your chips in preflop.
