My first post, some thoughts on PT stats?
Hello all,
This is my first post and I am new to poker. I've played about 3000 hands at 0.5/1.0 at Empire now and I am curious about my stats and what I should be focusing on changing. I have 2K hands since I got PokerTracker installed and these are my stats: Total hands: 1984 Vol. Put $ In The Pot: 19.86 Vol. Put $ In From SB: 50.64 Folded SB To Steal: 100.00 Folded BB To Steal: 100.00 Att. To Steal Blinds: 11.11 Won $ WSF%: 25.84 BB/100 Hands: 7.50 Went to SD%: 32.96 Won $ at SD%: 52.27 PF Raise %: 5.44 I am not totally sure exactly what these stats mean, but I am hoping to learn a lot in the near future Thanks |

Nothing sticks out as bad. As you learn more, that preflop raise number is going to go up and the VP$IP may go down slightly. But both are fine.
Welcome to the board. |

[ QUOTE ]
Folded SB To Steal: 100.00 Folded BB To Steal: 100.00 [/ QUOTE ] These look, uh, a little high. As a beginning player I wouldn't worry too much about blind defense, but eventually you're going to have to take a stand against those blind-stealing bullies. Welcome to the board. Great first post! |

Thanks, I think I may be calling too much, with pairs to see the flop and with Axs, if I am stricter with my hands I may be able to be more agressive PF.

Frankly, in games as loose as Party .5/1, there are very few situations where you should be folding pairs preflop.

Thanks, good to know. I will read up some more about defending blinds, when exactly does a blind occur, is it when someone raises PF and everyone folds?

Re: My first post, some thoughts on PT stats?
That was a fast reply I just clicked submit!
I tend to call with any pair under TT to see the flop and I fold if I don't hit it usually, odd times I go to the turn if the pot grows. Reckon I should continue like that? I also read a post by Ed Miller saying that if the pot is good I should stay in it "regardless" and I am usually losing quite a bit that way. |

Re: My first post, some thoughts on PT stats?
Do you know how to count outs and figure odds? Cause there are some times when you flop nothing but an underpair and have the odds to hit a set, but they're relatively rare.

Re: My first post, some thoughts on PT stats?
It's when the cut-off or the button raises first in. The reality is that this may have only come up a couple times in 1984 hands at this level. I only have one blind defense opportunity per 1,000 hands (for each SB and BB) in my database. It just isn't a factor at this level.

Re: My first post, some thoughts on PT stats?
I can (sort of) calculate the odds but not fast enough to do it on the fly, but I do realize that the chances of making a set are relatively small.
