.5/1 at party equal to 2/4 tables at local casino?

never played a hand in a casino, so i was just wondering if anyone thought that the two were comperable, or maybe that 1/2 on party would be more equal to the 2/4 in a casino. thanks.

They are comparable in my experience. There are exceptions I'm sure and I usually play higher limits at the B&M but I think it's safe to say that the typical 2/4 B&M game is very loose and usually passive.

Depends on the casino, but I've played 2/4 games that were looser and crazier than some .5/1 Party tables. In the casino I sometimes play at, there is a very noticeable difference between the 2/4 and 3/6 games- maybe it's just whatever is the lowest limit offered is the table that attracts all the maniacs.

You're going to have to sit down with more money in a casino, so the bad beats hurt, but the hands go really slow and you aren't multitabling...

The rake and tips can get really painful.

The plus side is that at the 2/4 (or lower) tables, you can find players that make typical Party .5/1 players look like pros, and they are really easy to identify. The weekend night crowd is a dream come true at many tables. Once you move up to 4/8 the players become more competent, and anything above that you need to get your game face on.

My big problem with live play is absolute boredom. The hands go sooooooo slooooooow. Find a table where everyone's getting lit and having fun. It's the best money and you can have fun while folding away your crap hands.

This is very valid and I agree. Usually lowest limit offered = best game. I failed to mention it because I've never seen a casino that offered 2/4 where it wasn't the lowest limit.

But at Canterbury, regardless on how horrible the players are, the rake and jackpot drop kill you, plus if you tip. So it depends on pokerroom too.

ive seen 10/20 tables play like party .5/1 and 4/8 tables tighter than any table ever, except the 2+2 table when CDC isnt there. GOOT!!!

I have played in Las Vegas at the Mirage, Bellagio, Sahara, Palace Station and Texas Station, and I must say that the games at all of them run hot and cold. Sometimes you get a fast player who is a real fish, and sometimes the tables seem to have only one fish... me... [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Yeah, in my experience the ante(don't have rake in California) and jackpot drop alone basically kills any chance of winning long-term for all but the very best players at such super low limits. Heck, tipping alone can easily wipe out half your profits or more.

The $2/4 games I've seen and been in, in Southern California, were extremely loose but also extremely aggressive.
