Re: Strange ATo hand, misplayed every street?
Hi Richard,
1 question on MP1 - 50% VP$IP so you have him in PT but what was his PFR%. If thats low <10% then this is probably a pre-flop muck for me. I would probably fold the flop when he 3-bets. The call on the turn isn't all that awful as you have got that far. He hasn't attempted a checkraise on any street so the Q on the river obviously scared him. Either, he has AK and has missed everything. Or has an overpair and is now worried about trip Q's (full house) but will check/call. I think you have to check it through as he will only call with the better hand. The key is preflop though - whats his PFR% |

Re: Strange ATo hand, misplayed every street?
i think you can much this preflop unless this guy is a total LAG in which case a 3bet may be correct...
why are you raising this flop? why not just fold? |

Re: Strange ATo hand, misplayed every street?
ATo is not exactly a pretty hand, but I think you should either 3-bet or fold in this situation. If this guy is a LAG preflop then 3-bet, otherwise I would fold. You don't have want others to play with you in this situation. Not sure what you're thinking on the flop raise considering this guy is so loose, but after it's 3-bet, you should definetly be folding (like I said, unless this guy is a LAG).

Re: Strange ATo hand, misplayed every street?
How loose he is says very little about his level of agression, and if I know nothing about that I fold this hand.
If he will raise with crap before the flop however, make it 3 bets instead. And the way this played out, fold on the flop. k |

Re: Strange ATo hand, misplayed every street?
I now measure a PRF of 8%, but this was early in the session. At the time I had only see him be "generally fishy" -- played crap and took it to the river. Regardless, I agree that calling (even as a poster) is the worst of the 3 preflop options.
On the flop, when it gets to me my thought is "the limpers have showed weakness, MP1 is a fish, let's see if I can get it heads-up." The 3-bet sucks but I'm getting like 20:1 by now. Turn: I'm way ahead of AK and middle PPs but way behind everything else. I'm pretty sure the limpers will fold even if I don't raise. Dunno what any of this implies, but I took the dubious "middle road." River: I'm not any worse off at all, and this guy likes to show down crap so if I WAS ahead before then I am giving up a bet. I wimp out; MP1 turns over 99. If there's one thing I can say about this one (and most of the hands I posted tonight, like that KQ atrocity), it's that I'd never advise playing like this on the forum. I took my first night back at Empire slowly (only 2 tables) but obviously I have major kinks to iron out. |
