Atlantic City, this weekend
Hi everyone,
My girlfriend and I are going to Atlantic City this weekdend. We plan to arrive Friday night and leave Sunday afternoon or evening. Our ideal situation would be to stay at the Borgata, and pay the $39 / night poker rate. Something tells me this might be impossible. (I checked the Borgata web site, and it looks like the rooms are sold out--and weekend rate seems to be around $400). 1. Is it possible to get a room at the Borgata for a weekend at the poker rate? If so, how do I arrange that? 2. a. If I am staying at the Borgata, is it worth checking out the Taj poker room at all? b. If I'm not staying at the Borgata, is it worth checking out the Taj poker room at all? 3. (a) If the answers to 1 and 2(b) are "no," what's the best option for a reasonably-priced, decent hotel room that's convenient to the Borgata? (b) If the answer to 1 is "no" and the answer to 2(b) is "yes," what's the best option for a reasonably-priced, decent hotel room that's convenient to the Borgata and Taj? (c) Is Priceline a good option for AC? What are some bids that have been accepted on weekends? 4. Any other helpful hints to info for AC first-timers who plan to spend a ton of time playing poker but also may be interested in some other distractions? |

Re: Atlantic City, this weekend
the $39 poker rate is only for weekdays and I believe that has gone up anyhow now that they are in full tourist season. you are probably out of luck totally there.
i seem to remember that the hilton or bally's has pretty reasonable rates, but i dont stay down there so i cant be sure. as far as checking out the taj, i definately recommend it. also might want to stop by the tropicana, they have some a nice daily tournament and also some great low level ring game action limit and NL. |

Re: Atlantic City, this weekend
[ QUOTE ]
1. Is it possible to get a room at the Borgata for a weekend at the poker rate? If so, how do I arrange that? [/ QUOTE ] No, probably not. Highly unlikely during a summer weekend. My friends are regulars, and they usually end up renting out a hotel somewhere in AC for $150 or so. I'm not sure where, but it's on the other side of town. I believe it's $200 and up at the Borg on weekends. [ QUOTE ] 2. a. If I am staying at the Borgata, is it worth checking out the Taj poker room at all? b. If I'm not staying at the Borgata, is it worth checking out the Taj poker room at all? [/ QUOTE ] a. If anything, check out the Taj, then the Borgata. After seeing the Borgata, you'll probably be disappointed with every other place. Especially if you're a heterosexual male. b. Well if you're staying at the Taj, then sure, why not. If not, then same answer as above. Sorry, I'm not familiar enough with AC to answer 3 & 4. I live close enough to AC, that I can go play live, and come back the same day. I actually am not at all familiar with anything outside the poker rooms at the Taj & Borg. I couldn't tell you where the Blackjack tables are or where the beach is. Re: Atlantic City, this weekend
try hojo express on route 30 10 minute ride from casinos, clean, new and usually one of the better prices..... AC is very expensive in the summer.
If no women are involved try comfort inn north on route 30, a little grungier but not bad, also a bit closer |
