Is becoming a VIP on Empire worth it?
They just sent me this offer:
"Between July 15th and august 15th, make sure to qualify for all the following: a. Play at least 2500 raked hands. b. Deposit minimum $500. c. Refer at least one friend to EmpirePoker, via the TAF program on our site. After accomplishing these 3 slabs, at the end of that period of time*, we will invite you to join Empire Poker VIP Club, and your balance will be updated to 5000 EPoints." Now, 2 and 3 are no problem. But I never play limit anymore - only NL SNGs (and as you know, you have to play thousands of those to become a VIP), so I'd prefer not to play 2500 raked hands. My limit game is rusty to the point that I have no idea how well I'd do. Is the VIP program worthwhile enough for me to stop playing SNGs for a while to try to meet their offer? |

Re: Is becoming a VIP on Empire worth it?
actully....you can acquire VIP points much faster via the SNG's.
you may want to consider writing to them and asking if it is okay for you to play 100 or 200 10+1 SNG's (or whatever you want to try to counter-offer) instead of the 2500 raked hands. they may go for it. the empire VIP club sucks in a plethora of ways. but the 5k points that they are giving you can immediately be turned into $50 cash if you like. so, if you never have anything else to do with the club, you can look at it as a $50 bonus-offer. |

Re: Is becoming a VIP on Empire worth it?
Well, I play 50+5 SNGs. I believe I would need to play 2000 to get 5000 VIP points - as a non-fulltime player, that'll take me a while.
Anyway, good idea about asking them if I can play SNGs instead. I'll try that. |

Re: Is becoming a VIP on Empire worth it?
as i mentioned in a previous thread (perhaps to you)...i'm not exactly overwhelmed with the porsche promotion.
if it costs 8000 points to enter then this is like spending $80 for an MTT (because that is the amount of cash these points can be redeemed for RIGHT NOW). it is probably a decent deal..... i will assume the porsche is worth $100k even if 1000 players sign-up at $80 there is still a decent overlay....and i'm not sure if there even are 1k VIP members. anyway, it just seems like a decent +EV overlay tourney to me....which aren't THAT rare on the internet. the pokerstars 500FPP $100k tournament they had a couple weeks ago had a far better overlay. although...if the porsche is worth $150k and there are only 400 entries for this tourney THEN it really would be something to get excited about. can someone please tell me how much a freaking porsche is worth?? i obviously have no clue at all about cars. |

[/ QUOTE ] What a crock of [censored]. I'd reply to them and tell them to stick their VIP program up their arse. The whole program is a joke and isnt worth the trouble unless you happen to play at empire anyway. Don't waste you're time. But if you do decide to waste your time (did I mention the VIP sucks??) playing SNGs is the best way to do it (if you play higher SNGs), so you wouldn thave to change that at least. Oh, one more thing, the VIP sucks |
