23o
Not exactly a common situation but I was curious...
10/20 6 handed. CO and button limp, SB (2+2'r) completes, I check with 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Flop is K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. It gets checked around. Turn is 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB bets, I raise, folded back to SB who three bets.... j.k. |

Re: 23o
This is an ugly situation with two pair and the very bottom two pair at best. The real question here is how tricky your opponents are. What are you going to be 3-bet with in this spot that you beat.
If your opponent has 2 pair or a set things aren't very good for you and there's a strong possibility here that he could have even have the flush as things have played out. The probability needs to be pretty great that he's making a total bluff or maybe just a pair with a Club here to really warrant continuing. |

What happens when the SB and BB are both really good players and know all the tricks?

you fold anyway. or you fold on the flop because sb bets the flop w/ his flush. that's the trick around here, just ask. flop the nuts and bet it. now if he's really tricky aggro then he may not have a flush and you must call him down. if you think most of your opponents are like that though you are probably wrong. |

Re: 23o
That's what I was thinking. Since the SB didn't bet the flop, he probably doesn't have much. But since it got checked around on the flop and a garbage card hits the turn, he bets with nothing.
The BB has something but could have nothing and still makes this play because he has this information and suspects the SB has nothing. The BB raises. The SB knows all this and suspects the BB has nothing. The SB threebets. -Michael |

ive seen this before. and ive done this before. it's just not the way to play the game man. every once in awhile you find a really heroic reraise or call down. but more often than not they really do have something legit. the vast majority of players are just not thinking that many steps ahead. fold and move onto the next hand. |

Re: 23o
While you might find some players who go to this level at 10-20, the vast majority of the time the 3-bet means a 3-bet hand.
